Conducting Scholar
Angelica Dunsavage is entering her second year as a DMA student in choral conducting at University of Arizona’s Fred Fox School of Music, where she studies with Dr. Bruce Chamberlain and Dr. Elizabeth Schauer. She is currently the director of music at St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church in Tucson, Arizona, and the secretary of University of Arizona’s graduate student chapter of the American Choral Directors Association. Her article, Changing the Role of Conductor: Creating a Student-Centered Environment in a Large Ensemble Setting, recently appeared in the Winter 2018 edition of the AZACDA Antiphon. Prior to her arrival in Tucson, Angelica has served in several church, community, and public school teaching positions in the Ohio and Pennsylvania areas. She has studied in workshops and masterclasses with Dr. James Jordan, Dr. John Alexander, Dr. James Meaders, and Vance George, and was a two-time choral scholar with the Berkshire Choral Festival. She has been and remains active as a professional chorister and mezzo-soprano soloist. Angelica received her M.M. in choral conducting at Bowling Green State University, under the direction of Dr. Mark Munson and Dr. Sandra Stegman, and her bachelor’s in music education from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, under the direction of the late James C. Dearing.
